Deciduous tree to 50 feet. Leaves are to 8 inches, leaflets 8-18, lanceolate, to 3 inches long and turn yellow in fall. The globular, fleshy fruit is yellowish and translucent. Sometimes it is still used for a soap substitute. Native from Louisiana to Missouri, Colorado, and New Mexico.
